Merlot at its Finest

Merlot thrives in the Okanagan Valley, where our porous soils and long summer days produce aromatic and concentrated wines. By focusing on the distinct sub-regions we farm, we highlight our terroir’s diversity.

Winemaking Process

The hand-harvested Merlot clusters arrive at the winery in small picking containers, where each bunch is inspected and hand sorted. The fruit then passes through a de-stemmer, followed by berry-by-berry sorting to ensure only perfect fruit reaches the tanks.

Each parcel from our vineyards is vinified separately. Tanks are filled by gravity and naturally occurring yeasts carry out fermentation at 28-30°C. Time in tank varies — determined strictly by taste. The individual tanks are drained to barrels, keeping the batches separate for the first 12 months of aging.

After 12 months of aging, the wines are blended in tank. Each lot is evaluated, and the best lots are selected to be a component of our wines. Following blending, the wines are returned to barrel for an additional nine months of aging prior to bottling.

Following 21 months of aging in barrel, we carefully bottle our wines without fining or filtration. Following bottling, we age the wines for an additional year prior to release.
