2021 Queen’s Advantage Chardonnay

Deep, rocky soils and old, gnarly vines (planted in 1973) combine to create a wine with floral, melon, ginger, and wet stone aromas. The palate has a rich entry with flavours of bergamot orange, yuzu citrus moving to a long mineral finish.

Combret Vineyard

Southwest of the town of Oliver, this vineyard contains some of the oldest Chardonnay plantings in Canada. Located beneath Mt. Kobau and the Thompson Plateau, these vines are approaching 50 years of age. Of unknown origin, the vines are an extraordinarily distinctive Chardonnay clone named Dekleva in honour of the family who planted this vineyard.

The vineyard sits at 1266-1319 feet and has been painstakingly restored via precision agriculture. The result is an exciting chardonnay with cooler floral tones that capture electricity on the midpalate, and layer crème brûlée and pineapple flecked with ginger, followed by pears, wet stone, and minerals. I love the structure and balance of this wine, which suggest it will age effortlessly.

A charming and elegant wine, it begins with aromas of peach, melon and ginger. The rich flavours mingle exotic citrus fruits with a hint of wet stone on the long finish
